The Player

This is a sculpture at the top of our town.
It is in memory of Martin Donoghue,
who taught children music and he also
helped to found the DDAI.

It is shaped like an accordian and
it is red, blue and yellow.

It is near Jordan's and Avril's houses.

The Church is a special
place to pray to God.
St. Joseph is patron saint
of Ballindine.
We made our First Holy
Communion in the church.
There is an old graveyard
around it.
Fr. O'Connor is our priest.

Community Centre

Lots of our parents went to school there.
It was built in 1842.
Muireann and Michaela's grandaunt
taught in the old school.
Her name was Mrs. Ruane.

Cian M's, Megan's and Cian N's parents
volunteer in the centre to teach people
how to use the AED.
We have parties in the Community Centre
on special occasions.
There is a children's playground in it.
Grown-ups have meetings there.
Niall's babysitter looks after
the Community Centre.

The DDAI is next to our school.
They teach disabled people
to drive and how
to use computers.

Cery's mum works there.

The Solar Orb
The Solar Orb is a sculpture outside
our school.
The sun shines through its arms on
special days.

The special days are the summer solstice
on June 21st, winter solstice on
December 21st and the two equinox
in March and September.

The Gaa Pitch.
We play football in the pitch. It is near the
school. The football pitch is nice. It has a stand
and dressing rooms. Niall's Dad painted it.
It looks lovely.

Castlemacgarrett
Castlemacgarrett is very old.
It was owned by Lord Oranmore and Browne
until around 1965.
Then it became a nursing home.
Niall's mum worked there. But it was sold again
3 years ago and now it is vacant.
We post our letters in the Post Office.
The postman then delivers our mail
and parcels.
Megan's dad Derek works in the post office.
